DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE IF YOU ARE PLANNING OR ARE USING AT&T UVERSE. After spending a few hour on with tech support (NO HELP BTW)I went to the Netgear site to find that people using a similar device to Actiontec are not able to get a link light with the coax as the technologies are not compatible with Uverse.

This gadget is amazing. It allows me to view streaming video in a room that has cable TV but is too far away from my cable modem located in my office at the other end of a large apartment. I bought a network ready system (in my case the Panasonic Blue Ray player, but many different "Internet ready" devices will do) with the idea of watching streaming movies from Netflix through its wireless connector. But the wireless transmitter (Linksys wireless router) in my office was just to far away. This pair of amazing MoCA boxes allows me to make use of the fact that there is already a cable connection between the two rooms -- bring TV to one end and the Internet to the other. The MoCA allows me to superimpose the ethernet signal I have in my office (that comes out of the cable modem) and send it over the cable, delivering it to my living room without any problem and without any degradation in the signal. It saved me laying a cable in the apartment! This trick could have been duplicated in any room that was on the same cable by buying additional individual MoCA units. Here's how mine is wired up:
1) Notice that each unit has a male and female coaxial connector. When you are finished the cable will run through each one using these two connectors. There will be one MoCA located at one cable location and the other located at some other cable location where you want the two to be linked by ethernet. The third connector on each MoCA adapter is an ethernet connector. You will send a video signal into one of them and it will appear at the other.
2) Run the TV cable (on the side before it enters the TV cable box) into one of the two cable connectors on the MoCA and run the cable that used to connect to the TV box into the other connector (so the MoCA now sits between the incoming cable and the TV box, in one case, and between the cable modem and your computer at the other.
3) Now you have a MoCA adapter superimposed at each end of a coax cable that carries your Internet/TV signal -- the cable signal flows through the MoCA adapters without a loss.
4) But the setup is now also able to carry an additional signal. Each MoCA adapter has a free ethernet RJ45 connector. If you plug your ethernet signal into one end it can be read at the other despite the fact that there are other signals on the coax cable (e.g. TV). So plug your router at the end near the post-cable modem (at your computer) and plug in the Internet-ready device near your TV at the other, and viola you can watch streaming video from the Internet. It's actually easier than it sounds -- it need a diagram to make it clear.

The most plug and play you will get with networking (when used with Verizon FiOS). I use one plugged directly into a DVR and the other plugged into a switch for several PCs. 45/50Mbps is about the going rate. Other than the cost, you cannot beat this if wireless is too weak and you can't run cable (CAT5/6)
